DESCRIPTION

A 7 day adventure; 3 days from Cairns to the Cape, a day off up there and three days to return. This is a must-do destination for any adventure rider. A route that is designed for GS's, you will be challenged but not forced to try and carry a 1250 across a creek! There will be some soft terrain, the usual outback style surfaces that are constantly changing and evolving. Maybe even some optional track break outs that will include some sand. A combination of accommodation and camping along the way makes this a great authentic adventure!

TEMPERATURE

This time of year the days are usually warm, highs of around 30 degrees and nights only slightly cooler in the mid 20's.

ROUTE DIFFICULTY

This route suits experienced off road riders, there is only a relatively small percentage of bitumen riding and extensive outback style dirt roads with constantly varying surface. Mostly flat and undulating riding with no real technical up or downhills. There are some light sandy sections which can vary in difficulty with road and weather conditions, keep in mind the crew is there to support you through any difficult terrain.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

We want this to be easy for you! All you need to do is turn up on your GS in your riding gear and have a 55L soft roll bag with your personal luggage in it. An additional 55L soft roll bag with your camping kit, details of what you need to supply are below. We will carry the bag in the support vehicles for you. A small tank bag or tail bag is handy to carry gear liners, spare gloves etc. Below is a list of some items that can make the event more enjoyable.

  • Goggles

  • Camelbak for hydration and to carry snacks

  • Warm jacket for nights

  • Garmin Inreach, Spot Tracker or similar. While not required these are a great investment for remote riding, even amongst a supported group.

WHAT CAMPING KIT YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Tent or swag (2p hiking tent is ideal)

  • Sleeping bag

  • Mattress

  • Pillow

  • camp chair

  • You do not need any cooking equipment, camp nights will have food provided.

TYRES

Off road style tyres are required, we recommend Metzeler Karoo 3 tyres and this is what staff bikes will be fitted with. Other examples are Continental TKC 80, Pirelli Scorpion Rallye or similar. Please begin the event with new or as near new tyres as possible. We will carry spares but they are for fixing damaged tyres only, not for tyre replacement due to wear.
